HAPPY NEW YEARS EVE!!!!!

Good Morning!!  Well I did round three with the chemo yesterday and everything went good.  I am so thankful.  I am not feeling as well afterwards like I had been.  That is to be expected.....the chemo is now taking its toll on my body.  I am not sick so far, just tired and weak.  The anti-nausea drugs they have for me are working really well so far.  I am so thankful for that too.  Thank you all for praying for me through another round of chemo.  I can feel those prayers and the love!

Wow....the last day of 2008!  It was a good, hard, fun and challenging year for the Gilbert Family.  God's blessings on the Gilbert's has been tremendous.  

My prayer for you all in 2009 is that God's blessings will rain down on you and your family through out the New Year to come. That through the good and bad you will draw closer to Him.

Thank you so much for those of you that e-mailed me with a prayer request!  I am praying!  Thanks for your trust.

How are you ringing in the New Year?  Do you plan to stay awake until 12:00??

UPDATE......Leslie is home and doing good.  The treatment went fine.  They were able to get her IV again on the first try and it held up great.  Thank you for keeping her in your prayers.

Good Tuesday morning!  I have a great story to tell.  Kimberly Phillips you need to read this!  Yesterday if you did not see the comments go now and take a look at what Kim wrote.  She asked for prayers for her daughter Emily who is having some health problems right now (Eosinophelic Esophagitis).  I just want you to know Kim that when I woke up yesterday morning one of the first things I thought about was your daughter Emily. I was wondering how she was doing and then God put it on my heart to start praying for her health!  So I did!  I was going to call you yesterday to check on her and then you left that comment and I was like......I can't believe what I am reading and I am already on it!  She has, is and will stay in my prayers.  Isn't that just so cool?  God is so amazing.....we just have to take the time to listen!  I am in awe.

Yes......I really do mean it.  If you need prayer for anything......please let me know.  I will be on it!  If you don't want to say here, or you just need prayer (no need to tell me what it is for if you don't want to) call me or e-mail me leslie@mgilbert.net  Thanks for your earnest prayers for me!  Today at 2:00 is round 3 of the IV chemo.  Again I am praying for a strong mind going in, strong veins and that the time will pass by quickly.

I HAVE AN UPDATE!!!!  The Dr. is weaning me off of the steroids!  Should be done taking them by Sunday!  WooooHoooo!!  I cannot do the MRI for another two weeks but since I am having no symptoms (besides what the steroids are doing) he gave the go ahead to wean me off of them. I know it will take a while to leave my system, but at least I see an end in sight!  Now if we could all just pray that the MRI looks good in two weeks.  I would be so sad if they had to put me back on them.  Tomorrow is my 3rd round of the IV chemo treatment.  Could you please pray for my veins to stay strong again?  THANKS!!!!

Good Monday morning!!!!   YEAH!!!!!  My San Diego Chargers won!!!  AFC West Division champs!  Oh yeah....oh yeah!!  (Sorry Stil....NOT)  The Gilbert Family was happy last night!  Now our focus is on the Indianapolis Colts.  The Colts will be coming to  San Diego......again, love the home field advantage.  If we play like we did last night it will be a great game.  Are you ready for some football Jenna Severe, Ramsay and Huddleson Families????  GO CHARGERS!!!

Didn't sleep too good last night but rested.  My legs are doing about the same.  I really did nothing yesterday but stay off of them.  My sweet hubby Mike waited on me hand and foot.  Mike loves doing for me too.....not one complaint from him........he is the BEST!!  That is so hard for me because I have all of this energy and want to do things myself but knew I needed to rest my legs.  I should have some answers about tests and what we are going to do about the steroids today.  I will let you know.  I felt more upbeat yesterday afternoon thanks to all of you lifting me up in prayer.  There are times where I get a little frustrated over all of this, so thanks for being my prayer warriors!

Good Sunday morning!  Yesterday was a hard day for me.  The steroids are slowly making my legs and arms more weak, and painful and just overall reeking havoc with my body.  Yes.....this has been a very busy and eventful week and I am so thankful for all of your prayers that I was able to do what I did!  Honestly when I got to my destinations I relaxed and my family pretty much waited on me.  I do like to get out of the house once a day to walk around......it is so good for me mentally.  But now I need to slow it down even more and try harder to rest.  VERY HARD to do when the steroids give you SOOO MUCH energy!  I am asking for your prayers today that I might be able to get off of the steroids in the next week or two. (The only way that will happen is if the swelling has gone down in my brain.....should be having a MRI this week,,,,,,will let you know) That the steroids will ease up on my body and that today will be a better day.  I told God last night that this was so hard and I need Him to help me through this new bump in the road and I know He is and has.  Again..............I cherish all of your prayers!

Tonight is the big San Diego Charger game!  Very excited!  They are playing in San Diego too.  Love having that home field advantage!  Get those Charger jerseys on!  My family is ready!

I want to wish Stacey Middleton and All Moments Remembered a very Happy 1 Year Anniversary!  Congratulations Stacey!  Very exciting!

Good Saturday morning!!  I am finally getting the chance to sit down to the computer this morning.  I have a cup of coffee in my hand and just ate some home made waffles so I am set.  My morning routine is just crazy since I started the chemo.  I have to wake up at 5:00 in the morning (which lately is not a problem with the steroids not letting me sleep) and I take an anti-nausea drug.  Then I try to go back to sleep or rest until 6:00 a.m.  Then I take my oral chemo meds.  Then I can't eat until 7:30.  And you all know how hungry I am all of the time right now.  I have always been a big breakfast eater and I usually eat earlier then 7:30 so this has been an adjustment for me.  If I don't get started on all of this at 5:00 a.m. I wouldn't be eating breakfast until much later.

Yesterday was a relaxing girls day.  Jenna, Monica, and Noni came by and picked me up and took me out to lunch.  We went to a couple of stores and spent some Christmas gift certificates........very fun and great deals right now.  Then we went to Jenna's and watched a movie.

Last night was the big Gilbert side of the family Christmas celebration at my mother and father- in- laws house.  We had a great time and they always host a fun party.  I love extending the Christmas celebration fun!  Our family is just so much fun to be around.  I love them all dearly!

Tomorrow is the BIG game for the San Diego Chargers!  My brother Donald and his wife Noni are having the whole family over for the game and to eat awesome football food!  It is a must win for the Chargers to clinch their division.  So GO SAN DIEGO CHARGERS!!!! (BOOOO Denver Broncos....had to throw that in there Stil.)
